Dr. Thurman is a graduate of the University of Texas, Houston and completed his residency in internal medicine in 1986 and fellowship training in 1988, both at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School’s affiliated hospitals in Dallas. Dr. Thurman has been in private practice since 1988. He strongly believes that the practice offers an experience of a large university medical center type setting and feels fortunate to be working in an environment like this.

Dr. Thurman has served as an attending physician at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and subsequently moved to Houston, Texas. Dr. Thurman chaired several hospital committees and currently serves on some committees in the area hospitals. He is well trained in all gastrointestinal diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. He is patient and always spends time in explaining to patients about the cause of their disease and the specific approach to take. He has significant interest in pancreatic and biliary tract diseases and developed an expertise in performing ERCP procedures. Patients with pancreatic cancer, bile duct stones and bile duct cancer avail this expertise without a need for traveling to the Texas medical center. Dr. Thurman has given several talks in the Woodlands/Conroe/NW area to educate doctors, nurses, physician assistants, and nurse practioners. He also participated with other physicians in the group in various GI symposiums. He strongly believes that the practice offers an experience of a large university medical center type setting and feels fortunate to be working in an environment like this. Dr. Thurman is married and has two children. He enjoys fishing and hunting and shares his wonderful experiences with staff and colleagues.
