Dr. Guru N. Reddy received his training in Gastroenterology, Liver Diseases and Nutrition at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed his Fellowship in 1988. Dr. Reddy has been in private practice since 1988. He is the founder of Digestive & Liver Disease Consultants, P.A.
For his professional contributions and achievements in the field of gastroenterology, Dr. Reddy is regarded as an icon in his specialty. He is recognized as an excellent clinician, superb endoscopist, and a true leader and is the recipient of myriad awards and accolades. More recently he is voted to Houston’s Top Doctors and recognized in Top Docs H Texas 2006 Magazine. He is also recognized as 2006 America’s Top Physicians by Consumer’s Research Council of America-2006 edition of America’s Top Physicians.

Dr. Reddy is recognized for treatment of his patients with utmost compassion and care. His endoscopic expertise and skills involve in performing all Gastrointestinal Endoscopies, including complex interventional pancreatic and biliary endoscopic procedures. He has pioneered over the years in introducing any newly developed endoscopic procedure across the world for the first time to the North Houston communities. His comprehensive training in Liver diseases (Hepatology) and Liver transplantation at Baylor College of Medicine, facilitated to develop a very large liver practice. He provides through an outstanding team in the office, latest therapies for patients with acute and chronic liver diseases. The liver Center in the practice is dedicated for the care of these patients. Dr. Reddy believes in always listening to his patients thoroughly and earns their confidence prior to performing any tests or treatment. He also strongly believes in “patient education” and at every step of the practice and the endoscopy center, comprehensive education materials are made available for patients. He is a regular speaker and speaks on diverse gastrointestinal and liver disease topics for physicians, nurses, patients, and others. Dr. Reddy has spoken at many regional, national and international meetings.
Dr. Reddy distinguishes as an outstanding physician leader and continues to serve in diverse capacities. As a thought leader, he spearheaded several policy and quality improvement issues. Dr. Reddy has served the hospitals as Chair of Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement, Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Continuing Medical Education, Endoscopy, and Medical Staff By Laws. Recognized by his peers for his leadership and dynamism, he was elected to serve as Chief of Staff of Houston Northwest Medical Center (HNMC) and Northeast Medical Center Hospitals. He also served on the boards of these hospitals. During his tenure as Chief of Staff of HNMC, the hospital was voted in the top 100 hospitals in the nation. He is also the founding Board member of Kingwood Medical Center.
Dr. Reddy currently serves on the Board of Texas Gulf Coast Gastrointestinal Society and Advisory Board of the S.E. Chapter of the American Liver Foundation. He enjoys the distinction and honor of serving on the Board of Harris County Medical Society (HCMS) for the past several years. HCMS is the largest county medical society in the U.S. with a membership of 10,000 plus physicians. He served as the Chair of the Board of Medical Legislation and the Chair of the Council of Hospital Chiefs of Staff of HCMS. He currently serves as a second year Member at Large. He also serves on the Board of Houston Academy of Medicine as its Treasurer. Dr. Reddy takes pride in establishing an outstanding patient friendly GI Center in Houston today. He cannot contain his enthusiasm in quoting “our patients today enjoy the entire experience in our center and constantly thank us for it. This is the best that has happened in my life”.
Dr. Reddy and his wife with their two sons and a daughter have made Houston their home for the past twenty years. They are very active in the community and have associated with several charitable organizations. Dr. Reddy enjoys reading, music, traveling and meeting people from diverse walks of life.
